Patrick Utomi is a Political Economist that was part of the founding of the Lagos Business School where he is a professor and was the first Director of the Center for Applied Economics at the LBS which has been ranked by both The Economist and the Financial Times of London among the top 50 Business Schools in the world.
Utomi who is currently a Fellow and International Policy Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington DC has a background as an executive in Industry where he served as Chief Operating officer and CEO for Volkswagen of Nigeria; an Adviser to the President of Nigeria; and founder of leading social enterprises, as leader in Civil Society. He has served and is currently serving on the boards of several organizations.
He has been a candidate for office of President of Nigeria and author of several books on Public Policy, Policy Economics, Politics and Leadership Politics, Leadership, and Business, including "Managing Uncertainty: Competition and Strategy in Emerging Economies".
Dr. Utomi is the current Chair of the African Union's (AU) Pan-African Private Sector Trade and Investment Committee (PAFTRAC).PAFTRAC advises African leaders on private sector perspectives on trade and investments.
